Additional Louisiana State Department of Education Certification Requirements:
- Achieve a passing score for PRAXIS Education of Exceptional Students: Severe to Profound Disabilities & Education of Exceptional Children: Core Content Knowledge if completed prior to 12/31/10. After 1/1/11 Special Education: Core Knowledge and Severe to Profound Applications.
- Complete three (3) credit hours of internship of students with significant disabilities OR three (3) years of successful teaching experience of student with significant disabilities.
Upon completing all requirements, the teacher's district will send an Evaluation, Add-On, Course Approval & Name Change Application (Application Type - EV) and any other documents (e.g., transcripts) to the Louisiana State Department of Education to add the new area to the existing teaching certificate.
