Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership program offers an opportunity for current educational leaders, along with other educational professionals, to acquire the skills, knowledge and dispositions necessary to provide visionary leadership and effective management. Students in the program learn to facilitate improvements and develop new programs and processes to meet organizational goals.

This program can be completed 100% online.

Program Highlights

  • The cohort concept provides the opportunity for students to participate in the type of collegial and group processes that model learning communities

  • Off-campus cohorts are offered at cooperating school district sites

Program Requirements

  • Total semester hours required: 60 hours
  • Residency requirement: Candidates are required to have an enrollment period of two consecutive semesters with a minimum of nine credit hours per semester
  • Continuous enrollment: Candidates are required to be enrolled each semester, including fall, spring and summer semesters, until completion of all degree program requirements
  • Dissertation prospectus: Candidates are required to complete a dissertation prospectus consisting of a comprehensive review of the literature on a selected topic and an oral defense
  • Dissertation proposal: Candidates are required to complete a dissertation proposal consisting of a review of the prospectus after edits from the initial defense, with the addition of a chapter detailing the proposed methodology for the research study and an oral defense
  • Dissertation: Candidates are required to complete a dissertation that represents a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the discipline
