HAMMOND The Ponchatoula and River Parish chapters of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association are hosting a football tailgate Saturday, Nov. 1, in conjunction with the university’s “Fan Appreciation Day.”

Alumni, family and friends are invited to enjoy free food, soft drinks, and inflatable games for children from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Alumni Association tailgate tent in Friendship Circle.

"Come tailgate with us, then join us in cheering on the Lions as they take on McNeese State at 6 p.m.," said Alumni Director Kathy Pittman. “We’re encouraging fans to wear white in an effort to ‘white out’ Strawberry Stadium.”

As part of “Fan Appreciation Day” activities, children can have their picture taken with Southeastern’s lion mascot Roomie in Friendship Circle from 3-4 p.m.

At the game, North Oaks Health System will distribute 2,500 free “rally towels” and fans can also register at ticket entry gates for give-aways such as jerseys, hats, and game day apparel.

Tickets for the game are available at the Southeastern Athletic ticket office, www.lionsports.net, 1-866-LION-TIX or (985) 549-5466.

For more information, call the Alumni Association at 985-549-2150 or 1-800-SLU-ALUM.
