Spotlight on Excellence*
Benny (Brenda Birch) Gallaher (Industrial and Engineering Technology) has had her third anthology published. The
title is Time Swept Treasures: Southern Style, and it is available on Amazon.
Edgar Reyes (Math) had a paper accepted for publication in Matimyas Matematika. The title of the paper is “S w-polar decomposition for O(p,q).” The special case O(1,3) is the Lorentz group in the physics of space-time. The study and work were supported by the Kenelly-Voss Endowed Professorship in Mathematics during the period 2018-2021.
Laura J. Fazio-Griffith (Health and Human Sciences) of Baton Rouge was reappointed to the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. Fazio-Griffith is a licensed professional counselor and was nominated by the Louisiana Counseling Association. She will serve as a counselor educator.
Kent Neuerburg (Mathematics) gave an invited presentation (virtually) at the 2023 International Conference on Algebra, Analysis, and Applications at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, India. His presentation titled “Exponent-Preserving Groups” discussed results of research on centralizer nearrings done with Alan Cannon (Mathematics) and Gary Walls (Mathematics).
Anne Babson (English) was interviewed about her book The Bunker Book by Susan Larson on her WWNO show The Reading Life.
Dr. Jerry Parker (World Languages and Cultures) was recently named the 2023 Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association. He will represent the state of Louisiana at the 2024 Southern Conference on Language Teaching conference. He was also recently named managing editor of the academic journal Research Issues in Contemporary Education, the official journal of the Louisiana Educational Research Association.
