Division of Student Affairs Student Awards Convocation
The Division of Student Affairs will host the 42nd DSA Awards Convocation on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 6:00 PM in the Student Union Ballroom. This event recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to the university.

DSA Award Nomination
**Nominations, Recommendation Letters, and Applications open on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 and close on Monday, March 20, 2023.***
If you know a group or individual deserving of a DSA Award, please complete this nomination form below.
Please note you do not have to be nominated in order to apply for any awards. All awards are open to those who want to apply.

Jackie Dale Thomas Green "S" Award
Purpose:
The Division for Student Affairs Jackie Dale Thomas Green “S” Award is presented annually
to those students who have contributed to student life at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Eligibility:
1. Sophomore status or above
2. Enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
3. Good disciplinary standing
4. An active member in at least two (2) Recognized Student Organizations
Student Organization Award of Excellence
Purpose:
The Division for Student Affairs Student Organization Award of Excellence is presented
to student organizations who has made outstanding contributions to the University
through their community involvement and commitment as a whole to Southeastern Louisiana University.
Application Instructions
1. Complete this application with the requested information
2. Two letters of recommendations from faculty and/or staff members
Small Sized Organizations
Recognized Student Organizations who membership is less than 15 members.
Medium Sized Organizations
Recognized Student Organizations who membership is between 16 and 30 members.
Large Sized Organizations
Recognized Student Organizations who membership is greater than 31 members.
Outstanding Freshman Leader of the Year
Purpose:
The Division for Student Affairs Outstanding Freshman Leader of the Year Award is
presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the University
in their first year as a student and has outstanding personal characteristics.
Eligibility:
1. First-year Freshman
2. Enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
3. Good disciplinary standing
4. Have made outstanding contributions to the University and/or community
5. Have outstanding personal characteristics.
6. Must be an active member of at least one (1) Recognized Student Organization
Rising Sophomore Award sponsored by Kappa Delta Tau
Purpose:
The Rising Sophomore Award was established by the Kappa Delta Tau Alumni members of
the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. The KDT alumni who established this award represent and
wish to support the values that Southeastern strives for and expects from all student
organizations: service, integrity, and leadership by example.
Eligibility:
1. Sophomore status
2. Enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
3. Must be a Louisiana Native
4. Must show leadership and service to the University and/or community
Outstanding Man/Woman of the Year
Purpose:
The Division for Student Affairs Outstanding Man/Woman Award is presented annually
to a man and woman that have made outstanding contributions to the University and
has outstanding personal characteristics.
Eligibility:
1. Junior status or above
2. Full-time student during Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 (if graduating senior, must
be enrolled in the number of hours needed to graduate)
3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
4. Good disciplinary standing
5. Have made outstanding contributions to the University and/or community
6. Have outstanding personal characteristics.
7. Must be an active member of at least two (2) Recognized Student Organizations
Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Member of the Year
Purpose:
The Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Member of the Year Award is presented to a FSL
Member who has made outstanding contributions to the University and the FSL community
and has outstanding personal characteristics.
Eligibility:
1. Junior Standing or above
2. Full-time student during Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 (if graduating senior, must
be enrolled in the number of hours needed to graduate)
3. 2.8 Cumulative GPA with no probationary period during the Fall 2022 and Spring
2023 semester
4. Outstanding leadership abilities within their chapter, Fraternity and Sorority
Life community, and the University community
Dr. LaVanner S. Brown Role Model of the Year sponsored by the African American Alumni Chapter
This award is presented to a full-time multicultural student with a 2.7 GPA or higher and a classification of sophomore and above. This award should be for an individual that has demonstrated strong involvement with the university and/or local community.
Outstanding International Student sponsored by David Ware & Associates
This international student must have a 3.2 or higher GPA and a classification of sophomore or higher. The individual must have demonstrated strong involvement with either the university or the community and possess such characteristics as integrity, leadership, an outgoing personality, and strong communication skills.
Influential Educator Award
Purpose:
The Division for Student Affairs Influential Educator Award is presented to an individual
who provided outstanding advisement and support to our organizations and students
throughout the academic year. Individuals recognized for this award demonstrate an
exceptional commitment to working with students outside of the classroom as well as
both an interest and expertise that benefits their respective student organizations.
Eligibility:
1.Have made outstanding contributions to a registered student organization at Southeastern
2.Have made contributions to the University and/or community
3.Have outstanding personal characteristics
4. Be an employee of Southeastern Louisiana University
Recognized Student Organization Community Service
If your Recognized Student Organization participated in community service from August 1, 2022 to March 20, 2023 submit it for an opportunity to win the Recognized Student Organization Community Service Award.
Fraternity and Sorority Life Organizations Community Service
If your Fraternity and Sorority Life Organization participated in community service from August 1, 2022 to March 20, 2023 submit it for an opportunity to win the Recognized Student Organization Community Service Award.

Either the applicant or your recommender by submit the Recommendation Letter(s).
Please be sure to include the applicant's first and last name and the award in which the recommendation is for as the file name for example: "Roomie The Lion - Outstanding Freshmen Leader of the Year"

Who can submit Recommendation Letters?
- Each award criteria is different but it may be a Professional Reference (not related), Organization President, or Southeastern Employee.
Can I submit my Recommendation Letter if it was sent to me personally?
- Yes, you can submit Recommendation Letters if you have the original.
