Veterans on Campus Training

Welcome to Veterans on Campus - Faculty and Staff Only

All Southeastern Louisiana University faculty and staff are invited to participate in training
related to military cultural competence and supporting military and veteran students on campus.
Veterans on Campus is an interactive role-play simulation that builds understanding and
appreciation of the challenges faced by student veterans. In the simulation, learners assume the
role of a faculty or staff member and talk with three virtual student veterans struggling to adjust
to college life, trying different approaches to see what works best. The learning objectives of the
Veterans on Campus training are:

  • Understand common challenges facing student veterans transitioning to campus life
  • Manage classroom discussions around sensitive issues to veterans
  • Recognize and approach student veterans struggling to adjust to college life to discuss
  • Inform and connect students struggling to adjust to on- and off-campus support services

Faculty and staff who complete the online Veterans on Campus training will receive a
certificate of completion and qualify to receive Southeastern's “Green Zone” training
recognition. This includes a military friendly "Green Zone" badge (decal) and a digital version of
the badge. Faculty and staff will also receive a Military Challenge Coin minted specifically for
Southeastern Louisiana University.

Please send your completion certificate email to to receive the badge and challenge coin.
