HAMMOND – KSLU, Southeastern Louisiana University’s public radio station, will present its second Guitar Hero Challenge in the Student Union mall Nov. 12-14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“For three days Southeastern students once again have the opportunity to rock out” by taking on the challenge of playing the “Guitar Hero” Playstation video game, said Chad Pierce, KSLU underwriting and development representative.

Pierce said KSLU will charge $2 a song with proceeds going to the CASA Kids for Christmas campaign.

“For the first Guitar Hero Challenge last year, we raised money for the Virginia Tech Hokey Spirit Memorial Fund,” Pierce said. “It was such a success we knew we would have to do it again. Teaming up with CASA to provide Christmas gifts for needy children is the perfect way to utilize this event.”

This year contestants will have the chance to play the recently released “Guitar Hero 3, Legends Of Rock,” Pierce said.

He said faculty and staff are also welcome to show off their guitar skills.

“Last semester, we had a guitar instructor come in and blow the doors off the thing,” he said. “He brought his classes to watch, then someone from the audience challenged him and they played head-to-head, and before long we had a mob of people watching.”
